Overview

The recent past—from the beginning of perestroika until almost the present day. A time of turmoil, a period of capital accumulation, showdowns, a reassessment of all old values, the acquisition of new ones...The film's heroes, along with the entire country, begin a new life in the mid-1980s, swiftly breaking through all the trials the era has in store. They are not constrained by excessive moral principles, but with every step they take in their pursuit of enormous wealth, they take sin upon their souls and are aware of it.
